TONYA HAWLEY
Biography
For over 20 years, Tonya Hawley’s passion for public relations, entertainment marketing and writing, gave her a fervent interest to serve others in this area. This quest, along with a strong entrepreneur spirit, led to the establishment of her business, The KAMDI Group.
After graduating from the University of Dayton with a BA in Communications and Master’s Degree in Public Administration, she began her professional career in Corporate America, which was the start of her communications experience. This path led her to a variety of communications/marketing positions with companies in various industries, including a power company, housing authority, telecommunications company, and television station.
Over the years, Tonya has enjoyed using her skills and services to volunteer with several non-profit organizations and other businesses. As a result, she has gained extensive experience in both the corporate and non-profit levels. Still furthering her career goals in the entertainment area, Tonya served as director of Public Relations and producer for Rhythm II Productions, which included producing a local CBS television show and various local musical stage productions. In addition to PR, Tonya has been involved with several sales and marketing entrepreneurial opportunities that have given her top sales experience—including training a team and marketing various products.
With a strong desire take her career to new heights, Tonya transitioned to the Atlanta area. It was here that she continued to broaden her skills with freelance work as a writer for several local magazines, as well as a seasonal communications position with Georgia Games. Contracting with various PR and Marketing firms has enabled her to gain major knowledge and experience in event planning and coordinating with several national recording artists. Tonya was also involved with Destiny Style Records and the debut of Christian Recording Group, Destiny Praise.
As Founder of the KAMDI Group, Tonya has worked with several small businesses in guiding their marketing, PR and social media efforts. The KAMDI Group has established an entertainment branch that books talent, supports marketing and PR, and provides management support for artists. Along with this, Tonya is co-founder of the Unsungateers, LLC which is a social media forum and growing organization that leads conversation, live chats and support to the “Unsung” legendary artists of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. As a result of her work effort, Tonya has had the pleasure of working with several renowned celebrities, including R&B greats, Chris Jasper (Isley Brothers), Glenn Jones, Peabo Bryson, ConFunkShun, Cherrelle, actor Tommy Ford, and many others.
